In my free time, I love to read, cook, sing, and spend time with friends. I was a participant in the 2020-2021 Vietnam Engaged (Virtual) Learning Program and I am so excited to be in Vietnam for the first in-person program in three years and to get to know the TDTU students!

Amalia S. '24

Hello all, my name is Amalia and I am currently a junior at Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations from the city of Philadelphia. I am majoring in industrial and labor relations with minors in Spanish and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. I hope to work within the intersection of migration and education in the future. I was involved with Cornell’s Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program, working with La FundaciĆ³n Futuro to teach English to young leaders of rural, indigenous communities in Ecuador.  I am heavily involved in Cornell’s Spanish Debate team and have worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant for ILR’s Advocacy and Debate course. In my free time, I enjoy writing stories, dancing, and learning new languages in my free time. I completed the ILR Vietnam Engaged Learning Program last spring virtually and I look forward to learning more about Vietnam’s unique culture and labor relations this year as a teaching assistant. I am also grateful and excited for the opportunity to once again learn from Vietnamese professionals and peers during this experience.
