Meet the 2024 ILR Vietnam Engaged-Learning Students!

Song L. BSILR'26

Hello all! My name is Song, and I’m a sophomore transfer from Emory University to Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. On campus, I am a Cornell Asian Pacific Student Union(CAPSU) ambassador, an Elevating Asians mentee in the A3C professional development program, an actor in the Shakespeare Troupe at Cornell’s theatre production for Romeo and Juliet, and an active member of the Korean American Students Association (KASA). I am also an active member of the Asian Pacific Americans for Action (APAA) and the Cornell Minority ILR Student Organization. I plan to pursue a pre-law track with a focus on immigration, labor, and employment to enact progressive change within the legal system. I am so grateful to be a part of the Vietnam Engaged Learning program, and I hope to gain a deeper understanding of labor relations and be completely immersed in global politics at an epicenter of immigration. I also cannot wait to connect with the TDTU students, try new dishes, and explore!

Eva E. BSILR'26

Hello everyone! My name is Eva and I’m a sophomore in the school of Industrial and Labor Relations, pursuing a minor in Healthcare Policy. I’m originally from Durham, North Carolina. Academically, I am specifically interested in union organizing, economic policy, and domestic and international labor history. For fun, I write and perform in a sketch comedy group and compete in Speech events on the debate team! I am beyond excited to experience Vietnam, travel with the ILR cohort, and meet TDTU students!

Last summer, I spent a month in Hanoi, Vietnam as part of the Adverse Childhood Experience Pathfinders Research and Community Collaboration Internship. During my time there, I collaborated with students at VinUniversity to explore the enduring effects of childhood trauma and conducted interviews with those who had experienced such impacts in their lives. After I graduate would like to go into the realm of international relations, human rights law, policy, and community organizing that focuses on Africa, South/Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. In my free time, I love to spend time with friends and host get-togethers, cook, play piano, and draw. I am very excited to get to get to know everyone in the program and make strong connections with the TDTU students. I can't wait to see you all soon!

Colin R. BSILR'24

Hi, my name is Colin Rodriguez and I’m a senior studying Industrial and Labor Relations with a minor in Business. I have spent nearly my entire life in Parkland, Florida, even interning in my home state in HR for an aerospace company on the Space Coast. Besides that, I have also worked as an HR intern supporting international operations in the UAE and India. These experiences have helped me develop a great interest in international studies related to rising economies, defense industries, and manufacturing. This has also inspired me to even take on volunteering initiatives for Ukrainians learning English; I even enrolled in Cornell’s Ukrainian Language class. On campus, I am the former President of Alpha Sigma Phi (Rockledge), current VP of Programming for Cornell’s Interfraternity Council, and a marketing confidant for Combat Robotics @ Cornell. I hope to work internationally in the future, and am looking into careers in consulting and executive compensation.
