Nguyen Quynh Tram
My name is Nguyen Quynh Tram and I am currently a third-year student at the Faculty of Trade Union Labor. Personality is cheerful, sociable and knows how to observe and listen. My hobbies are discovering new and interesting activities, playing sports and talking with friends. Strengths are ease of integration and friendliness. Weakness is low ability to withstand pressure, easy to stress if work is not arranged properly.

Hello everyone, my full name is Luu Thi Ngoc. This is my Vietnamese name. You can call me Elyshia. It is my English name. I’m 20 years old and I'm currently a junior student at Ton Duc Thang University. My faculty is Labor relations and Trade unions. I come from An Giang which is located in the South east of Vietnam. I lived with my parents in Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City for 3 years with the purpose of studying at university. I was a member of the media club, in the field of reception. My hobbies are traveling, reading books, and playing volleyball. I'm an extrovert. That's the reason why I applied to this short-term program to study, to make a new friend and learn new and meaningful things from foreign friends. Moreover, I have the opportunity to interact with foreign friends and learn many new cultures. I really love learning new things. Before, I participated in a short-term program with La Trobe University. I learned more things from culture, study and make a lot of new friends. And I recognized I absolutely love communicating and diplomacy. I hope to be able to join the course to study and have fun with Cornell University.

Trần Minh Như
Hi there, my name is Minh Nhu, you can call me by the name Elys. I'm now a junior, majoring in organizational behavior of LRU. I really love hanging out with friends, going swimming and I’m also a snapshot enthusiast. But sometimes when I feel exhausted, I am a homebody who spends a lot of time on my me-time too. About my edge, I'd say that I am a friendly and quick-adaptable person. I hope when I join this program, I will improve my poor English reflection and have some memorable experiences.

Hi, everyone! I'm Khanh Linh and I'm from Long An. I feel happy because I have the opportunity to get to know and learn with you! My preference is reading books and listening to music. The type of music I often listen to is ballad music, the words have deeply touched my heart. And I also really like writing, and I also really like writing, perhaps it stems from my hobby of reading. Hello everyone. I’m Thuy, and my English name is Cristina. I’m a fourth-year student at Ton Duc Thang University. I’m curious about everything surrounding me. That’s the reason why I am interested in reading books and listening to podcasts about human resources, labor relations, and daily life topics. Furthermore, I am also passionate about writing a bullet journal. The process of creating a bullet journal allows me to clear my mind, organize my thoughts, and cultivate what works for me. People may see that as somewhat weird to play video games as a hobby, but it’s what I really like to do.

I am living with my family in Phan Thiet city, which has many beautiful sand beaches and fresh seafood. Phan Thị Tú Quyên
Hi, I'm Quyen. You can call me Grace. I am 20 years old. Now, I'm a junior student of the Labor Relation and Trade Union department. My hobbies are traveling and studying at the coffee shop. I am an extrovert, like to communicate and make new friends. Hopefully after the course with Cornell University, I will have new friends, gain new knowledge and useful skills for future work. I come from Vietnam, live in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City. This year I just turned 18, I am an active, adaptable and sociable Pisces girl. When I have free time, besides playing games, I also like reading books and listening to music. I have an endless passion for horror, detective, fantasy novels and books about psychology. Being a water sign person with the symbol of two fish facing each other shows a somewhat opposite personality depending on the situation. My name is Bui Tran Phuong Uyen, and I am currently a student majoring in Labor Relations at Ton Duc Thang University. Now, I’m living in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.
In terms of personality, I consider myself an open-minded person who is quite perfectionistic and always eager to learn new things. I always set goals to develop strengths and overcome weaknesses, trying to improve myself every day.
As for my studies, Labor Relations has captured my interest in its practical
and impactful nature. I enjoy what I learn about this field and constantly seek opportunities to deepen my knowledge and skills.

I am working in Vietnamese Students’ Association as a Vice Chairman at class level, and in the Department of Testing and Quality Assessment of Ton Duc Thang University as an invigilator. I enjoy reading, cooking, crocheting, and spending time with my family in my freetime. During this Exchange Program, I'm really looking forward to knowing and discussing Labor Relations within the context of Vietnam and the U.S., widening my knowledge, improving my social skills and making new friends. Meet the 2024 ILR Vietnam Engaged-Learning Students!

Song L. BSILR'26

 Hello all! My name is Song, and I’m a sophomore transfer from Emory University to Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. On campus, I am a Cornell Asian Pacific Student Union(CAPSU) ambassador, an Elevating Asians mentee in the A3C professional development program, an actor in the Shakespeare Troupe at Cornell’s theatre production for Romeo and Juliet, and an active member of the Korean American Students Association (KASA). I am also an active member of the Asian Pacific Americans for Action (APAA) and the Cornell Minority ILR Student Organization. I plan to pursue a pre-law track with a focus on immigration, labor, and employment to enact progressive change within the legal system. I am so grateful to be a part of the Vietnam Engaged Learning program, and I hope to gain a deeper understanding of labor relations and be completely immersed in global politics at an epicenter of immigration. I also cannot wait to connect with the TDTU students, try new dishes, and explore!

Academically, I am specifically interested in union organizing, economic policy, and domestic and international labor history. For fun, I write and perform in a sketch comedy group and compete in Speech events on the debate team! I am beyond excited to experience Vietnam, travel with the ILR cohort, and meet TDTU students! 

Carlene M. BSILR'24

Hello Everyone! My name is Carlene and I am a senior in the ILR school with minors in Law and Society and Feminist, Gender, and Sexualities Studies. On campus I am a current research assistant for the Africa Futures Project and the Volunteer Coordinator for the Ithaca Tenants Union Legal Hotline, I am also a part of the Student Assembly Ethics Committee, Vice President of Wanawake wa Wari a black woman's cooperative housing on campus and one of the co-leads for the MacCormick Juvenile Center Chess/Games program. Last summer, I spent a month in Hanoi, Vietnam as part of the Adverse Childhood Experience Pathfinders Research and Community Collaboration Internship. During my time there, I collaborated with students at VinUniversity to explore the enduring effects of childhood trauma and conducted interviews with those who had experienced such impacts in their lives. After I graduate would like to go into the realm of international relations, human rights law, policy, and community organizing that focuses on Africa, South/Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. In my free time, I love to spend time with friends and host get-togethers, cook, play piano, and draw. I am very excited to get to get to know everyone in the program and make strong connections with the TDTU students. I can't wait to see you all soon!

Colin R. BSILR'24

Hi, my name is Colin Rodriguez and I’m a senior studying Industrial and Labor Relations with a minor in Business. I have spent nearly my entire life in Parkland, Florida, even interning in my home state in HR for an aerospace company on the Space Coast. Besides that, I have also worked as an HR intern supporting international operations in the UAE and India. These experiences have helped me develop a great interest in international studies related to rising economies, defense industries, and manufacturing. This has also inspired me to even take on volunteering initiatives for Ukrainians learning English; I even enrolled in Cornell’s Ukrainian Language class. On campus, I am the former President of Alpha Sigma Phi (Rockledge), current VP of Programming for Cornell’s Interfraternity Council, and a marketing confidant for Combat Robotics @ Cornell. I hope to work internationally in the future, and am looking into careers in consulting and executive compensation.

Hello! My name is Di and I am a junior studying ILR with minors in Law & Society and Business. I am originally from Zhengzhou, China. I hope to work in the field of international labor law or human rights law in the future. In the past summer, I interned at an international law firm working on bond structuring and debt litigation cases. On campus, I work as the vice president of Mainland China Student Association and a research fellow assisting a project on the impacts of China’s incorporation in globalization on the labor economy of neighboring countries. In my free time, I enjoy watching documentaries, playing soccer, or just spending time with friends. I am excited to learn more about the economic development in Vietnam in recent years and labor relations from a global perspective. I also look forward to connecting with TDTU students during this experience.

Hi all! My name is Zohar G., and I am a junior at Cornell’s Industrial and Labor Relations School. I am intending on minoring in Law and Society and have an interest in conflict resolution and labor! I am originally from New Jersey. On campus, I am involved with the Worker Institute as a research fellow, a peer mentor for local high school students through a pre-college program known as Upward Bound, and as a guide for Cornell’s pre-orientation backpacking trips.  1. Trương Thị Thanh Nga

Hi, my name is Thanh Nga. I am a junior studying Labor Relations at Ton Duc Thang University. I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, and chatting with friends - this is the reason I joined this program, where I can share knowledge and build a nice relationship with the outside community. I’m looking forward to learn new information about the field of labor relations with friends of Cornell University. This will almost certainly be remembered in my student’s education as an unforgettable experience.

Nice to greet you all, my birth name is Ngan (Ngan Nguyen), I also named myself Lucia, which means ‘light’, the keyword that I always head myself towards from years ago. I am currently a senior student in Labor Relations at Ton Duc Thang University. Besides my major, I am also intensely passionate about psychology, spiritual things, Buddhism, fortune reading, mind reading, body language and so on. Reading is my main method to release anxiety, I also enjoy walking, swimming, learning languages and petting animals. Having chances to meet and acquaint talented individuals from ILR School would be a big honor for me, especially when we have the same field of study. I am so excited to be part of the program to learn and improve along with Cornell students. During 2 weeks of the Exchange Program in HCMC, I hope that we could aware of much more about Labor Relations in Vietnam and The U.S., improve my debating skills also public speaking skills in English, recognize also understand more insights about The U.S. culture and people there.

This is my second time participating this Exchange Program and I feel very excited. My favorite part is Debate Workshop because it is a useful knowledge and the most interesting part of the course. Hello you guys .My name is Bao Long , you can call me Dragon. I’m a freshman Student of TDTU. I’m living in HCM City ,Vietnam and my hometown is Ba Ria Vung Tau Province, which known as the Seafood Land which have many tropical fresh fruit. Although I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh, which is a sleepless city, with hustle and bustle lifestyle, I usually prefer to spend my free time preparing home-cooked dishes for my family and friends than enjoying nightlife in HCMC ^^. I’m delighted to have an opportunity involved in ILR Vietnam Engaged Learning Program to share our culture, perspective of labor relation and economics throughout the world, especially in Vietnam and US. I’m looking forward to meeting and learning new things with friends from different countries.

Heyyy! I'm glad to introduce myself to you. My Vietnamese name is Trần Minh Như, but you can call me by my English name is Elys. I am a current sophomore studying Labor Relation and Trade Union at Ton Duc Thang University. On campus, I'm now a member of scientific research team. I also work as a sales assistant and tailor's assistant at a local luxury brand in district 1. In my freetime, I love browsing Instagram, Tiktok... (I guess there are many people just like me), and reading both books and ebooks. At present, I am learning Italian, but it really hard to learn by myself, so i think I'll register to the Italian  soon. I'd be very happy if anyone wanna learn Italian with me!

My name is Nhat Phi or maybe you can call me Jimmy. I’m a last year at TDT University, majoring in Labour Relations, focus on Human Resources Management. I live in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. In my free time I like to play games and watch new movies. And play with cats too, I’m fall in love with cats. I also interested in multicultural so I’m looking forward to have great experience with Cornell students in this debate programs.

Hi guys! My name is Ngan, I’m a sophomore student majoring in labor relations at Ton Duc Thang University. I’m a person who loves to explore, is passionate about art and pursues liberalism. I adore the color blue and take much pleasure in gazing at the sky. I want to start a business in the restaurant industry. I feel very honored to have the opportunity to study, exchange and have fun with fellow students from Cornell University. We shared culture, knowledge, everything about each other. It was a great time. However, I'm also disappointed that I can't talk to you guys more confidently because my English is very bad. I hope that next time you come back, I will be more confident with my English. Thanks guys! 

13. Trần Lê Hồng Hân

Hi, my full name is Tran Le Hong Han, but you can call me Han for short. I’m currently a second year student at Ton duc Thang University where I major in labor relations. I’m so glad that I got a chance to meet some talented, dynamic and excellent students from Cornell University. I have learned a lot from you guys and my English skills have been improved a bit, which made me feel so grateful and happy. I hope to have the opportunity to visit your place someday. 14. Ngô Thị Ngọc Tuyết

Welp! Nice to meet you. Just call me Taylor. I am a freshmen at Tôn Đức Thắng University. I am majoring in Labor Relations and Trade Unions. Taylor is originally from Hồ Chí Minh City, but  she’d prefer to call it Sài Gòn. I love everything about Sài Gòn, especially the cuisine. I often spend my spare time reading books, seriously. I’m obsessed with books and Taylor Swift’s music. I love learning new things, meeting new people, making new buddies. Therefore, meeting the students from Cornell University’s School was such a great opportunity for me.

Hello! My name is Phạm Thanh Thảo and I am a sophomore studying Labor Relations and Trade Union at Ton Duc Thang University. I am from Ho Chi Minh City which is a famous place with many tourist attractions. In my opinion, exchange program with Cornell’s student that was an big opportunity for me to widen my knowledge, skills. Additionally, through everything I have more connections, experiences and self-confident.

Hi! My name is Hoàng Nam and I’m a sophomore studying Labor Relations at Ton Duc Thang University. I am a talkative person, like to create laughter, dynamic. I love sharing stories about my country and what I've heard. I am eager to learn and love to ask questions. I don't spend a lot of time playing sports but I like outdoor activities such as picnic, climbing,...
